and neither is the opportunity to build effective mindfulness practice. It takes practice and dedication to be able to practice mindfulness. It is the ability to recognise what is happening in the present moment. It is simply a recognition without judgment or criticism, without suppression or attachment. When we create mindfulness, we often drop into a practice around meditation. Meditation is not about turning ourselves into a battlefield where one side fights the other, where all the self-talk in our head keeps going around and around. It’s where we take time to develop stillness within our mind. My challenge is for you to be an observer of your mindset. And when we become an observer, we have the ability to change the experience. Does it give us more of an insight to see multiple perspectives?

The essential thing in meditation is not to create tension, conflict or rift within ourselves. The positive elements within us and are within us and the negative elements are also within us. So, it’s necessary for the positive elements to acknowledge and cradle the negative elements. If we do that, true transformation takes place. There is no need for the two to do battle. When we become an observer of our negative mindsets, what are the messages that come up for you? Is it a question of am I lacking, am I a fraud, am I disconnected? Do I feel incomplete or limited? The issue that arises is never about an issue. The issue is the by product that has come from our limited messages within the negative self-talk in our mind. Through our meditation practice, we learn to let go of attachments that we have to any judgments and identify them for what they are. Just misunderstandings. And when we’re an observer of our misunderstandings, we can start to notice if any feelings or sensations start to arise in the body. Jealousy is an example of a sensation that can arise in the body deep in the gut when we are attached to something that is not ours. Are there any sensations that draw your awareness to a particular part of the body? Do you notice any patterns that are there in those continuous loops of negative self-talk? We need to flip those limiting beliefs. It takes practice sitting in stillness to change our mindset into positive self-talk.

Rome wasn’t built in a day.!

I encourage you to keep sitting, keep reflecting on your practice, and keep working on your positive mindset.
